Chatter introduced by Salesforce.com is the social networking embibed in customer relationship management (CRM). Chatter Collaboration Cloud can be termed as the first social enterprise collaboration platform. Chatter works like Facebook and Twitter.

As we indicated in a post earlier that Salesforce.com had already rolled out Chatter private beta to about 250 of its Service Cloud 2 customers. The Chatter will be built into all functions (Sales, Marketing & Service) of the Salesforce.com CRM suite of applications. The Salesforce.com Chatter is expected for official release sometime in the summer 2010.

What Salesforce.com users can do with Chatter?

Salesforce.com CRM users can use Chatter to create profiles, give and take real-time feeds, & status updates. This enterprise social networking feature is extended to apps and data within Salesforce.com CRM.

According to Salesforce.com we are now seeing new features being delivered which are said to be of Cloud 2.0. According to Salesforce.com the social networking use has surpassed e-mail. they consider collaboration as the key in any cloud application and hence have released Chatter.

I am already using Salesforce.com CRM – how to enable Chatter?
Salesforce Chatter is currently scheduled to become generally available in calendar year 2010. Once released you can contact your administrator to enable the Chatter functionality.

I am of the opinion that Salesforce.com Chatter will be very useful for mid to large size companies where it can unearth and dissiminate a lot of knowledge and information for collaboration. However I invite readers to markk their opinion on this by writing in comments below.
