Google TV, new service that brings the Web to Television

Google unveiled Google TV, its new service that integrates live TV and the Internet. It will have a keyboard and ”pointing device.” It operates on set-top boxes that are WiFi enabled and connect to standard cable.

Internet Majors are getting into the Television business which troubles the normal TV sellers because of the pricing and the Internet related features.

Google TV is yet to be launched. Google’s TV service, which will roll out this month on devices made by Sony and Logitech, will include content from Amazon, Netflix and Twitter as the Internet search giant attempts to merge Internet content with television programming.

Google TV  features a 1.2-GHz Intel Atom Processor, 4 GB of internal memory, 802.11n Wi-Fi, two HDMI out ports, a pair of USB ports and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Included with the system is a remote control, but users will also be able to use their Apple iPhone or Android based smartphone to control content.

Google TV will allow their users to search the Internet and view programs which are available on the net like Youtube.com. The latest Sony TV’s and Logitech TV’s will come with the Google TV installed.

Google TV is going to be supported with the Android Market following which users can access all the Apps and whatever videos, photos, music and games are online. All the content on the Google service would be free of cost as its the Online Content.

Google TV promises to give users easy access to the videos they love including photos and other internet content, all accessible through a compatible Google TV or peripheral box.

Google TV box will be available in the U.S. this fall and pricing has not yet been announced.
