The Sakshat, the $35 Indian tablet to be launched in January 2011. This cheapest windows laptop will be brought to you by the HCL Technologies Ltd, a well known Indian computer services best for making the world’s cheapest laptop.
The Indian government has made contract with HCL Technologies to manufacture 100,000 units in the first phase. This project is aimed to boost the role of technology in education.
We can expect 1 million units in the first phase and is expected to be available by January 10th. In the first phase only the 7 inch version will come out, although the tablet is expected to come in 3 versions – 5 inch, 7 inch and 9 inch.
Coming to technical specifications, it will support 2 GB RAM memory, wi-fi connectivity, camera, USB port and powered by a 2-watt system to suit poor power supply areas. This laptop is based upon Android OS, there will be several applications like internet browser, PDF reader etc.
